Control of Dogs and the use of Dog Identifaction Tags
In the UK, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that any dog in a public place must wear a collar with the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag. Your telephone number is optional.
You can be fined up to £5,000 if your dog does not wear an identification tag
Your dogs name is not compulsory and in fact not recommended. With dog theft on the increase the robber will know your dogs name if it is included therefore unsuspecting new owners think that this person know the dog well as it responds to its name.
